    Outstanding Collegiate Coaching in Basketball
Listening to his heart has taken Tim Miles from the basketball courts of his home town of Dolan, SD, and U-Mary to coaching spots with some of the Midwest’s top college teams. A Marauders player from 1985-1988, he chose to do student and JV coaching as a senior. After earning a B.S., Tim became a basketball grad assistant at Northern State. He went on to become head coach at Mayville State. There he helped transform a basketball program with four wins and 44 losses the two previous years to one with a 35-22 record, two conference championships, and two NAIA National Tournaments during his two-year tenure. Tim then coached NCAA Div. II basketball at Southwest State, leading the Mustangs to four consecutive winning seasons, an NSIC conference championship, the NCAA Division II North Central Region Championship, and a spot in the NCAA Div. II “Elite Eight.” In 2001, Tim returned to North Dakota as NDSU’s 21st head basketball coach, capping his career there with the team’s first Div. II 20-win season in 2007. This year, Tim will coach the Colorado State Rams. Tim has earned the respect of student-athletes and peers for his values and humility, as well as his coaching. He and his wife Kari, a 1998 U-Mary Master of Physical Therapy grad, have a daughter, Ava, and a son, Gabriel.
