The University of Mary Marauders Hall of Fame
A freshman on the first University of Mary men’s basketball team to compete as a member of the Northern Sun (NSIC) and the NCAA, Eric Erdmann grew into a prolific scorer and a cornerstone player on the only Marauders squad to qualify for the NCAA tournament.
The two-time all-state player at Fargo (ND) North High School joined the Marauders in the fall of 2006 and moved right into the starting lineup. Erdmann led the Marauders with 11.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-5 forward grew into one of the top players in the NSIC as a sophomore, scoring 22 points in a signature win over 8th ranked St. Cloud State University and earning all-conference second team honors after again leading the Marauders in scoring (14.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.8 rpg). After missing a season with injury, Erdmann rebounded in 2009-10 and joined forces with head coach Randall Herbst and guard Anthony Moody to lead the Marauders to their first winning record of the NCAA era at 15-13, scoring 16.7 ppg and grabbing a team-best 6.0 rpg to once again earn All-NSIC 2nd team honors.
In a storybook senior season, Erdmann and the Marauders posted an NCAA era program-best record of 23-6 overall and 18-4 in league play that included a 16-game winning streak and a national ranking of #14. The Marauders hosted and won an NSIC tournament game and qualified for the NCAA Central region tournament, all for the first time. Erdmann averaged 15.6 ppg and 6.0 rpg to earn All-NSIC and NABC All-Region 1st team honors. A 3-time NSIC Player of the Week in addition to earning All-NSIC honors three times, Erdmann wrapped up his career 4th all-time at UMary in scoring (1,642 points), 5th in rebounds (603) and 2nd in blocks.
The son of Tom and Renae Erdmann, Eric graduated with honors from the University of Mary with a bachelor of science in Computer Information System and Finance in 2011. The four-time NSIC All-Academic Team selection is a resident of West Fargo, ND and is the Director of Operations for Information Management Systems in Fargo. Eric and his wife Adrienne are parents to Natilee.
