The University of Mary Marauders Hall of Fame
A five-time all-conference selection at four different positions, Travis Dressler (2002-05) is the most decorated player in University of Mary baseball history and was the program’s all-time hits leader when he graduated in 2005.
Â
A graduate of Bismarck High School, Dressler was a freshman on the 2002 Marauders baseball team that finished 30-15, won the DAC-10 tournament championship and qualified for the NAIA regional tournament. A second baseman, he earned All-DAC 1st team honors. Dressler moved to third as a sophomore and hit .343 and scored 30 runs while batting second in the lineup. As a junior in 2004, Dressler added closer to his resume and set a school record with eight saves. He also had two wins on a squad that won 16 games. After hitting over .380 in the season, he was named to the All-DAC first team as an infielder and claimed second team honors as a reliever.
Once again Dressler shifted positions, manning shortstop and moving into the pitching rotation for his senior season in 2005. Once again he hit over .300 while also posting an earned run average around 1.60. He tied fellow Marauders Hall of Fame teammate Ryan Astle’s mark of three shutouts during the season. Dressler was honored as the DAC-10 Senior of the Year and his efforts earned him All-DAC second team recognition as both an infielder and a pitcher.
Dressler finished his career as the Marauders all-time leader with 167 hits and was second in runs with 119. He is currently fourth all-time in hits and fifth in runs. Following his senior year, Dressler signed a professional contract with the Sioux City Explorers in the Northern League as a pitcher.
An NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2004, Dressler also was a two-time DAC-10 Scholar-Athlete (2004-05). Continuing his ties with the university, Dressler coached three years with the women’s softball team and a season with the baseball team. The son of Rick and Val Dressler, Dressler graduated from U-Mary in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration degree in 2007. Employed by United Blood Services of Bismarck, N.D., Dressler and his wife Kayla (Campbell), a former Marauders track standout, have a son, Hudson.
