A six-time NAIA All-American and an 11-time North Dakota College Athletic Conference champion, Joe Koch is one of the most decorated scholar-athletes in University of Mary men’s track & field history.
 
The two-time state champion from Mandan, ND, Koch joined the Marauders for the 1995 indoor and outdoor seasons and immediately impacted the program. A three-time team captain who was named the University of Mary Most Valuable Male Track Athlete seven times and the Men’s Most Valuable Track & Field Athlete six times, Koch earned All-American honors three times in the 400 meter hurdles. Twice he was an All-American as part of the Marauders 4x400 meter relay team and once racing on a 4x100 meter relay team.
 
Koch was a force throughout his time in the NDCAC, winning 11 titles and earning all-conference recognition 30 times. Seven times he was selected as the NDCAC Most Valuable Track Athlete. In his final season in 1998 he was named the NDCAC Most Outstanding Senior in track. After he finished competing, Koch remained active with the Marauders as a sprints and hurdles coach in 1999 and 2000.  
 
A 2000 graduate from the University of Mary with a degree in mathematics, Joe is the son of Joe and Mary Koch. Now a resident of San Antonio, TX, Joe is a financial strategist for TransAmerica. Married to Sarah, also a 2000 UMary graduate with a degree in biology, they are the parents of Alex, Tate and Kylee Jo. Joe and Sarah run and coach a youth track club in San Antonio.
