The University of Mary Marauders Hall of Fame
One of the most honored softball players in University of Mary history, Bridgit Tollefsrud Fischer finished her impressive career as an All-American for her efforts on the diamond and the classroom with consecutive trips to the NAIA World Series.
Â
Recruited by Marauders Hall of Fame softball coach Brad Walsh, Fischer joined the Marauders in the fall of 1996 after an impressive high school career at Billings (MT) Senior High, where she remains on Montana’s season and career leaderboard in several offensive categories. The outfielder and catcher immediately stepped forward and made an impact for the Marauders, earning NDCAC honors as a freshman after hitting .392 as UMary won the league title in 1997. She earned the team’s ‘Big Stick’ honor as the Marauders top hitter in 1998 as UMary again won the NDCAC title. Fischer helped the Marauders to another league championship in 1999 while leading the Marauders to their second NAIA World Series appearance in program history. Adding power to her game as a senior, Fischer pounded a dozen balls over the fence to set a school record and garner NAIA second-team All-American honors as the Marauders won one more NDCAC championship and earned a spot in the World Series once again. In her career, Fischer was three-time All-Conference and All-Region performer and twice received NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
