D'Andra Morris posted a pair of NCAA qualifying marks at the Winter Festival. Overall the Marauders, who also competed at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic, generated six total qualifying marks on an impressive day of competition for UMary.
Morris cleared a personal-best height of 1.69 meters in the high jump to earn an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. She was one of four competitors to clear that height at the meet.
The senior had no equal in the triple jump, winning the event in an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 12.19 meters. Morris also picked up a third place finish in the long jump at 5.55 meters.
Cali Modglin joined Morris in generating an NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump when the senior exploded for a mark of 11.95 meters. Modglin bested Morris and the field in the long jump, posting the top mark of the day of 5.64 meters to win the event.
Other outstanding efforts for the Marauders at the Winter Festival include:
- Alexis Duscher posted the top time in the 1000 (3:15.49)
- Taylor Weidner was second in the 200 meter dash (26.63)
- Reid Shiland was second in the 800 (2:27.10)
- Shantelle Rule cleared the 60 meter hurdles in 9:37 to take second
- Arianna Passeri earned second to Modglin in the long jump (5.58 meters) and she placed third in the triple jump (11.04 meters)
In a meet filled with NCAA Division I and II competition, the Marauders also generated three NCAA qualifying marks at the SDSU Classic.
Elizabeth Acheson claimed the 800 meter championship in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:12.56, winning one of the deepest events filled with 22 competitors.
Tereza Bolibruch had a big day in the 60 meter hurdles. The junior cleared the barriers in an NCAA provisional clocking or 8.85 seconds to place second overall.
Taylor Hestekin recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying effort in the mile run. Her time of 4:56.85 was the fourth-best clocking in a race that had a pair of NCAA Division I student-athletes finish 1-2.
Hestekin posted the top time in the 1000 meter run, completing the distance in 3:03.80. Teammate
Natalee Sample was second in 3:04.10.
Bonet Henderson was a force in the sprints. The sophomore won the 200 meter dash in 25.14 seconds. Additionally she was second in the 60 meter dash finals with a clocking of 7.77 seconds.
Ava Grimm and
Grace Acheson went 1-2 in the 600 meter finals. Grimm crossed the finish line in 1:36.20 and Acheson finished in 1:37.91.
Ali McCoy claimed third in the 400 meter finals with a time of 58.21.
Starlynn Costa claimed fourth in the 5000 meter run (17:34.74).
The Marauders 4x400 relay team of McCoy,
Morgan Hertz, Grimm and
Elizabeth Acheson ran a combined time of 3:54.93 to take third.
UMary next competes at the Black hills State University Stinger Open on Feb. 19-20 in Spearfish, SD, in the final meet before championship season.
