NEW ORLEANS, LA – After competing at the NCAA Championships in all three seasons, the University of Mary women's cross country/track and field team placed 13
th in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Program of the Year standings.
Eligibility for the program requires a school to be present at all three NCAA Championships in the academic year (cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field). The final standings are determined by the team's finish at each championship. UMary was one of 13 schools in Division II that accomplished that feat.
The year started with the cross country team placing 18
th in the nation behind
Alyssa Becker's All-American performance, placing 6
th individually. It was the highest finish for the Marauders since 2021.
In the winter, the Marauders finished 47
th at the indoor track and field championships.
Elizabeth Acheson led the way with her fifth career All-American honors, placing 7
th in the 800m run.
UMary ended the year at the outdoor track and field championships, placing 56
th. The weekend in Colorado was highlighted by the 4x400m relay team of
Tayen Werner,
Kelescia Downes,
Sakena Massiah, and
Tionce Walrond earning an All-American finish in 7
th place.
UMary was the only Northern Sun school to qualify for USTFCCCA Program of the Year.
