BILLINGS, MT – The University of Mary women's track and field team earned its first win of the outdoor season by topping the leaderboard at the Yellowjacket Open. The Marauders won eight events overall and broke a school record that stood for over a decade.
Siena Lambert was the record-breaker, doing so in the Hammer Throw. Lambert's throw of 48.24m broke Stephanie Fey's record that had stood since 2014. The Division I transfer placed 3
rd at the event.
Kelescia Downes won the 200m with a personal best and NCAA provisional time of 23.81. That ranks 4
th in the nation currently.
Tayen Werner and Downes finished one-two in the 400m both with provisional marks. Werner's 54.05 ranks 3
rd in the nation and Downes' 54.47 slots in at 5
th nationally.
Aspen Eslinger picked up the win in the 400m Hurdles with a personal best time of 1:03.25.
Kristine Kalthoff started her outdoor season with a win, finishing the 1500m at 4:46.28.
Fellow distance runner
Faith Jepchumba earned her first career outdoor win in the 5000m. Her time of 18:22.35 was nearly 30 seconds faster than the next best finisher.
Anna Bruno won the Long Jump with a 5.72m jump and the Triple Jump at 11.29m.
The 4x400m Relay team of
Sydney Elsner,
Bernadette Belzer,
Anna Tisch, and
Kate Van Erp won with a 3:57.91.
