VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The second day of the NCAA Championships saw a pair of University of Mary women's track and field athletes earn All-American finishes.
Laila Cleare placed 3
rd in the 60m and
Tayen Werner was 5
th in the 400m.
Cleare had her season-best 60m time yesterday in the prelims with a 7.36. She raised the bar today with a career-best time of 7.33, setting a new school record in the event. Cleare outperformed her pre-meet seed by 11 spots. The senior is now an All-American for the first time following her 4
th NCAA Championship appearance.
Werner had the 6
th-best time of yesterday's prelims in the 400m and was able to better her placement by one spot in the finals. The Canadian sophomore finished with a 54.13 after having the best second-lap time out of all eight competitors. Werner was an All-American last outdoor season as part of the 4x400m Relay, making this her first individual All-American honor.

Outdoor season for UMary begins next weekend at home with the Marauders Outdoor Opener on Saturday, March 21, from the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck, ND.
