BISMARCK, ND – Making their season debut at home inside the University of Mary Fieldhouse and Wellness Center, the Marauders women's indoor track & field team broke three facility records to highlight the opening of the 2021 season.
All-American
Taylor Hestekin crushed the 1000 meter run in a time of 2:58.90 to win the event going away while establishing a new facility record. Hestekin won the event by over eight seconds.
Bonet Henderson blazed her way to the facility record in the 60 meter dash when the sophomore was clocked in 7.73 seconds.
In the longest event of the day, All-Region distance runner
Lacey Feist established a new facility record in the 3000 meter run when the senior clocked in at 10:34.67.
The Marauders also posted multiple other wins on the track:
- Ava Grimm won the 200 meter dash in 26.50 with teammate Alli McCory right behind (26.70)
- Elizabeth Acheson claimed the 400 meter run title in 58.68 with Grimm placing second (59.63)
- Courtney Dembrowski won the 600 meter run by nearly nine seconds in 1:41.29
- Tereza Bolibruch cleared the 60 meter hurdles in 8.96 to take the title
- The Marauders also won the 4x400 meter relay as Grimm, Acheson, Dembrowski and Rachael Neu teamed to clock a time of 4:04.29
UMary also captured a trio of field events:
- All-American D'Andra Morris led a tremendous effort in the triple jump for UMary, placing first with a distance of 11.99 meters. Modglin came in second at 11.59 and Arianna Passeri was third at 11.51 meters.
- Shantelle Rule cleared the bar at 1.45 meters to win the high jump
- Arianna Passeri sailed 5.56 meters to win the long jump with teammates Taylor Weidner (5.47) and Modglin (5.45) right behind
The Marauders return to action next weekend when UMary hosts the Marauders Invite on January 23.
