VERMILLION, SD – The 25
th ranked University of Mary women's track & field team earned second place at the South Dakota Challenge, trailing only the host and NCAA Division I competitor University of South Dakota in the 15-team final standings. The Marauders posted one title, three runner-up finishes and three NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
In one of the deeper events of the day,
Taylor Hestekin won the 1500 meter run title, placing first after finishing in 4:38.73. The All-American later claimed ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:18.54, running only behind a pair of teammates and six NCAA Division I runners.
Not far behind Hestekin in the 1500 was
Taryn Ceglowski, who finished third with a time of 4:40.51.

Elizabeth Acheson registered an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:11.90 in the 800 while placing second.
Cali Modglin earned a second place finish in the triple jump, hitting a mark of 11.76 meters on her fifth attempt of the day. She also earned a ninth place finish in the long jump (5.38m).
Faith Dockter also earned runner-up honors on the day when she placed second in the javelin with a top toss of 40.41 meters.
Tereza Bolibruch cleared the 100 meter hurdles in just 14.04 seconds to place third in an NCAA provisional qualifying time.
Lexus Lovan posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100 meter dash with a clocking of 11.85 seconds while placing fourth. She also placed fourth in the long jump (5.76 meters).
Chriss-Ann Thomas blazed her way to fifth place in the 200 as she crossed the finish line in 25.04 seconds.
Alli McCoy placed fifth in the 400 after finishing in 58.76 seconds.
All-American
Bree Erickson posted a sixth place finish in the 1500 after completing the race in 4:44.60.
Morgan Hertz claimed sixth place in the 400 meter hurdles after clearing the barriers in 1:04.50.
In the 5000 meter run,
Taleigh Adrian placed 6
th (19:12.34) and teammate
Teresa Blote claimed ninth (19:37.24).
Courtney Dembrowski placed 8
th in the 800 meter run (2:18.37).
Bonet Henderson ran the 100 in 12.16 seconds to finish 9
th.
Lovan, Henderson,
Cali Modglin and McCoy teamed to finish second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 46.95 seconds.
Acheson,
Reid Shiland,
Abby Folk and Erickson combined to place third in the 4x400 meter relay with a clocking of 3:52.50.
Kayla Stroh added a 7
th place finish in the javelin (33.31m) and
Nicole Kramchynsky finished 9
th (31.43m).
The Marauders are next set to compete at the Dragon Twilight on April 15 and the Blue Hawk Games and Sioux City Relays on April 16.
