Sam Putti competed in the 200 freestyle C-Final and placed 20th overall with a mark of 2:01.65. In the preliminaries she swam a personal-best time of 2:00.43.  For the third straight day at the 2017 Northern Sun Swimming and Diving Championships, 2/9/17 The Marauders placed two relay teams in the top 12 of the 800 yard freestyle relay. th. For the second straight semester, Sam Putti representing the Marauders earned the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors after posting a team grade point average of 3.50 during the 2017 spring semester. Sam contributed to the program in the freestyle and backstroke events.

Team captain at Wylie E. Groves High School in Birmingham, Michigan, Samantha "Sam" Putti made the state cut in both the 100 free and 50 free as a sophomore, junior and senior. She helped her team to fourth place in state as a sophomore and has earned her team's Coaches Award. Putti also competes for BBD Swimming. A multi sport athlete, she competes in track as a sprinter and bowling, where she is also a team captain, and has earned three letters in both sports. A nursing home volunteer and a member of the National Honor Society, Sam is the daughter of Felicia Putti and Jon Putti and will major in marketing at the University of Mary.

"Samantha comes from a very close knit family and has some great leadership skills that will help us develop our team chemistry," said Marauders head coach
Allan McCallum. "She will be a contributor for us in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events. It will be fun to work with Sam and watch her development."
