2017-2018
Melissa had a great second season with the Marauders Swimming and Diving swimming medley and distance freestyle events. In the dual meet against Augustana, Andrews score points for the team placing 5
th in both the 500 & 1000 freestyles. Competing against Concordia College, Andrews had finishes of 3
rd in the both the 100 & 200 freestyles. At the Dragon Invite, Andrews had finishes in the consolation finals heats of 9
th in the 500 freestyle, 13
th in the 200 & 1650 freestyles, and another 13
th place finish in the 400 IM. During the Dragon Invite, Andrews help score points for the team with her 16
th place finish in the 400 IM, & 15
th place finish in the 1000 freestyle helping the team earn a 2
nd place finish. At the 2018 NSIC Championships, Andrews competed for the Marauders in the distance freestyle & IM events and a member of the 400 & 800 freestyle relays. Melissa has contributed to the Marauders with her distance freestyle events and 400 Individual Medley.
2016-2017
Competed in nine dual meets and at the NSIC Conference. Records fell quickly for Mary in the 500 yard freestyle at MSU Moorhead. Beating her personal best by over 19 seconds and the school mark by more than three seconds,Â
Melissa Andrews established a new Mary best with a time of 5:19.99 at the dual meet against MSU Moorhead 10/23. Three Marauders competed in the 1,000 yard freestyle at NSIC. FreshmanÂ
Melissa Andrews finished 12
th overall in a time of 10:56.22 to earn five team points. She destroyed her previous collegiate best by 27.69 seconds.
Melissa Andrews also made the finals in the 500 free with a time of 5:17.15 placing 10th. Andrews was 15
thoverall with a mark of 5:21.67 in the finals in the 500 free. In the longest race 1650 yard freestyle,Â
Melissa Andrews finished ninth with a clocking of 18:22.57. For the second straight semester, Melissa Andrews representing the Marauders earned the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors after posting a team grade point average of 3.50 during the 2017 spring semester. Melissa contributed to the program in the freestyle events.
PRIOR TO UMARY
The child of a United States Army service member, Melissa Andrews is a homeschooled student-athlete who has lived in five different states and Norway. While in Norway she competed for Madla Svømmeklubb and qualified for the Norwegian nationals in both short and long course meters in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Melissa is the daughter of Frank and Elaine Andrews.
