The University of Mary Marauders

2020-21 (Senior)
As a NSIC All Scholar Athlete and the University of Mary Athletics Most Inspirational Award Recipient, Mary finished 5^th in the 200BK at Sioux Falls Quad. Finished 4^th in 200IM vs NSU.
Was a part of the University of Mary 800-yard free relay team that finished third in the NSIC Championships. Swam career best times of 2:10.42 in the 200 back, 2:10.80 in the 200 IM, 1:01.46 in the 100IM and season best of 4:39.88 at the NSIC Championships. A Finalist in 200/400IM at NSIC Championships.

2019-20 (Junior)
A NSIC All Scholar Athlete, Mary swam season-best times of 1:02.44 in the 100 back and 1:02.25 in the 100 fly at the NSIC Championships. Posted season-best times of 27.87 in the 50 free and 31.61 in the 50 back at the 2019 Quad: UMary vs AU vs NSU. Four top 5 finishes in dual meets.
 
2018-19 (Sophomore)
A NSIC All Scholar Athlete, Mary redshirted her sophomore year.
 
2017-18 (Freshman)
In her first dual meet Williamson won both the 500 & 1650 freestyles against Northern State. Against Minnesota Moorhead, Williamson was a triple event winner winning the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, & 200 IM. Against Sioux Falls Mary Catherine finished 2^nd in the 1650 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, & the 200 breaststroke. In the next dual meet against Augustana Williamson finished 2^nd in the 1000 freestyle, 3^rd in the 500 freestyle, & 2^nd in the 200 IM. Against Concordia College, Mary Catherine was a double event winner taking top honors in the 200 freestyle & the 100 breast stroke. In the first invite of the season the Dragon/Cobber Invite, Williamson finished 4^th in the 500 freestyle, 3^rd in the 200 IM, 4^th in the 1650 freestyle, & 5^th in the 400 IM. Up next was the Dragon Invite where Williamson finished 12^th in the 200 backstroke, 4^th in the 400 IM, 1^st in the 1000 freestyle, 2^nd in the 200 IM, 4^th in the 500 freestyle, & 9^th in the 100 IM helping the  team to a second place finish. Swimming in the dual meet against Northern State, Williamson won the 1000 freestyle, and placed 2^nd in both the 500 freestyle & 200 IM.  At the 2018 NSIC Championship, scoring team points for the Marauders was Mary Williamson. Williamson placed 10^th in the 200 individual medley and 16^th in the 1,000 yard freestyle. In the 400 IM sixth place was Mary Williamson in 4:39.21. This is the first time UMary had two swimmers in the top eight of an individual event at the conference meet. The Marauders opened the day with an eighth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Karyssa Nelson, Houston, Williamson and Andrea Smith combined for a school record mark of 1:39.73. The 400 yard medley relay team of Zajdzinski, Williams, Houston and Smith that placed 10^th. The Marauders finished the day with a school record in the 800 yard freestyle relay. Mary Williamson, Kate Murphy, Andrea Smith and Boese placed ninth overall in a time of 7:58.77. The Marauders had three swimmers place in the 1,650 yard freestyle. Mary Williamson led the UMary pack with a time of 18:11.10 to place 10^th. Mary had a great first season with the Marauders and she helped the team in the distance events.

High School
Mary Cate Williamson's sister Eileen will also join the Marauders in the fall. Mother was diver at University of Texas and University of Virginia and had other aunts and uncles compete collegiately. Top times: 500 fr 5:08, 1000 fr: 10:37.77, 1650 fr: 17:43.06, 400 IM: 4:36.15
 
Comments by Marauders head coach Allan McCallum: "Mary is great all around swimmer that will be able to contribute right away to the team in a variety of different events. She has always been a great distance swimmer and has really developed as both an IM'er and backstroker over the past couple of season. Mary has an outstanding work ethic and we feel she has only scratched the surface of her potential. We are very excited to get her in the pool with us this fall."

Mary is the daughter of Hugh and Margaret Williamson and is majoring in history.
