Biography

2020-21 (Senior)
As a NSIC All Scholar Athlete, Sarah swam season-best time of 27.24 in the 50 free, and career bests of 1:14.92 in the 100 breaststroke,  2:44.95 in the 200 breaststroke and 1:06.66 in the 100IM at the NSIC Championships.
 
2019-20 (Junior)
As a NSIC All Scholar Athlete, Sarah posted season-best times of 1.16.17 in the 100 breaststroke and a 2.47.19 in the 200 breaststroke at the NSIC Championships. Hegland had two top 5 finishes in dual meets.
 
2018-19 (Sophomore)
As a NSIC All Scholar Athlete, Hegland posted career best times of 26.48 in the 50 Free, & 1:06.73 in the 100 IM at the NSIC Championships
Posted career best times of 1:15.10 in the 100 Breast & 2:45.25 in the 200 Breast at the Dragon/Cobber Invite
1 top 5 finish in dual meets

2017-18 (Freshman)
Sarah had a great first season with the Marauders Swimming and Diving swimming sprint and distance freestyle events. Competing in the breaststroke events during the dual meet against Augustana, Hegland had finishes of 5th place in the 100 & 4th in the 200. During the dual meet against Northern State, Hegland had a 3rd place finish in the 50 breaststroke. At the Dragon/Cobber Invite, Hegland qualified for the consolation finals in both breaststrokes finishing 12th in the 100, & 11th in the 200. At the Dragon Invite, Hegland again competed in the breaststroke events helping the team to a 2nd place finish by placing 17th in the 50, 16th in the 100, and17th in the 200.

PRIOR TO UMARY
High School
Earned state team short course honors in 2017 and state team long course honors in 2015. 3-time selection to all-region team (2015-2017). top times: 50 Free (28.43), 100 Free (1:03.54), 100 Breast (1:15.67), 200 Breast (2:48.72), 100 IM (1:10.23) and 200 IM (2:34.62). Involved in piano, archery and 4-H.
 
Comments by Marauders head coach Allan McCallum: "Sarah is going to be a nice addition to our breaststroke group. She has improved a ton the past couple of seasons and is very motivated to continue that trend at the college level. I'm excited to see what she can accomplish once we get her on campus in the fall."
