UMary men’s track and field wins Al Bortke Open with 10 individual victories and a school record

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's track and field team made it three wins in a row to start the outdoor season with a home victory at the Al Bortke Open. The Marauders were winners in 10 events on the day.

Jorgen Paulson took home wins in three events on the day. His time of 10.70 was the best in the 100m dash. The All-American then won the 200m dash with a 21.67.

Paulson was also part of the victorious 4x100m relay team alongside Raheem Taitt-Best, Prithviraj Chougule, and Michael Cartwright at 40.27. That time currently stands as the ninth-best in the nation and is a school record.

Taitt-Best was winner of the 400m dash, improving his national standing with a 47.11. The junior is now 17th in the nation in the event.

Freshman Gavin Artner won the 5000m run in his first go at the event in his collegiate career. His time of 16:10.98 was just ahead of fellow freshman Andrew Kilman, who ran a 16.27.99.

Diego Andres-Dougan took home his first win of the outdoor season with a 14.65 in the 110m hurdles. It was his first time this season running the event.

Osiel Cano was second in the 400m hurdles, but his time of 53.09 is an NCAA qualifying time and 25th in the nation. It is also a PR for the senior.

Cano was also a part of the victorious 4x400m relay team alongside his brother Osvaldo Cano, Berkley Munnings, and Xavier Ifill. Their time was 3:16.54.

In the field events, Hayden Von Wald earned his second straight victory in the long jump with a 7.07m distance.

Sean Erickson made it three discus victories in a row to start the outdoor season with a PR of 50.64m. That is an NCAA qualifying mark that places the sophomore 33rd in the nation. Teammate Jake Hettinger placed second with a 45.41m throw.

Cam Brusven earned his second victory of the season in the javelin with a PR of 55.93m. The sophomore had not surpassed 54.00m before in his career.
