BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's track and field team started the outdoor season at home with the Marauders Outdoor Opener on Saturday, Mar. 21. UMary placed 2
nd at the meet.
Mark DeArmond had a great showing, winning both the 100m and 200m and hitting PRs in both event. DeArmond, a sophomore from Alaska, ran a 10.70 in the 100m and a 21.65 in the 200m.
Nathan Andrews, UMary's Track Athlete to Watch for the outdoor season, won the 400m with a 48.96 in his outdoor debut.
Senior
Emanuel Latawiec earned his first career individual victory with a win in the 400m Hurdles. Latawiec ran a 56.61 in the event to top the leaderboard.
Jake Hettinger started the outdoor season with a win in the Shot Put, hitting a mark of 16.50m on his final throw of the day.
Sean Erickson was the lone Marauder to reach an NCAA provisional mark, doing so in the Discus. His throw of 51.79m ranks 9
th in the nation.
Two-sport athlete Cam Brusven wrapped up a strong day for the field athletes, winning the Javelin with a 52.16m throw.
