EMPORIA, KS – After sending three athletes to the NCAA Championships during the indoor season, the University of Mary track and field team will have five more athletes in the fleet for the Outdoor Championships. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held in Emporia, KS, from May 21 to 23.
The athletes who will be competing are as follows (listed with events and seeding):
- Laila Cleare – 100m, 3rd; 200m, 6th; 4x100m, 10th; 4x400m, 11th
- Kelescia Downes – 200m, 16th; 4x100m, 10th; 4x400m, 11th
- Tayen Werner – 400m, 20th; 4x100m, 10th; 4x400m, 11th
- Tionce Walrond – 200m, 22nd; 4x100m, 10th; 4x400m, 11th
- Anna Bruno – Long Jump, 8th
- Kenny Moxey Jr. – Decathlon, 8th
- Sean Erickson – Discus, 9th
- Lucas Kupfer – High Jump, 13th
Savana Sanchez and
Aspen Eslinger will be traveling as alternates for the 4x100m and 4x400m Relays, respectively.
Moxey Jr. will be the first to compete, with the 100m, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, and 400m legs of the Decathlon beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21. Later that evening, the women's 4x100m Relay prelims will take place, followed by Bruno competing in the Long Jump.
Also competing on Thursday evening will be Cleare in the 100m prelims and Werner in the 400m prelims.
On Friday, the Decathlon will conclude in the morning with the 110m Hurdles, Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin, and 1500m legs. In the afternoon, Erickson will compete in the Discus. Then, Kupfer will take part in the High Jump.
Downes and Cleare will be in the 200m prelims on Friday evening, which will conclude with the 4x400m Relay prelims.
The finals of all track events mentioned will take place on Saturday.
