UMary men’s track and field finishes 3rd at NSIC Championships, Hammah wins title

DAY 2 RECAP

DULUTH, MN – The University of Mary men's track and field team moved up three spots on the final day of the NSIC Championships, placing 3rd. The Marauders had four individuals receive All-NSIC honors and one conference champion.

Winning his first career NSIC title was sophomore Gideon Hammah in the 800m. Hammah ran a 1:53.50 to win by 0.11 seconds. He is the first member of the men's program to win the 800m NSIC Championship. Ian Butman (5th, 1:56.33) and Joseph Ringhand (8th, 2:04.62) finished on the podium as well.

Mark DeArmond and Xavier Ifill both earned All-NSIC honors in the 200m. It is the first time each athlete has been named All-NSIC individually. DeArmond ran a 21.36 to place 2nd while Ifill was right behind him in 3rd at 21.47.

DeArmond was joined by Dawson Hawkinson in the 100m Finals and finished side-by-side. DeArmond placed 6th at 10.68 and Hawkinson was 7th at 10.70.

Dylan Payer closed out his first year at UMary with an All-NSIC finish in the 1500m, outperforming his seed by four spots to finish 3rd. Payer ran the final lap of the race in nearly 60 seconds, helping him move up 11 spots in the final standings. His final time was 3:58.42.

Cameron Brusven earned All-NSIC honors in the Javelin for the first time in his career, crushing his personal best by three meters with a 59.28m throw. He placed 2nd in the event. It was a strong day for the Marauders in the Javelin with Preston Lemar (5th, 52.14m), and Jake Hettinger (6th, 50.09m) each scoring points.

Kenny Moxey Jr. competed in the 110m Hurdles and placed 7th in the conference with a time of 14.29.

Nathan Andrews finished 7th in the 400m, running a 48.81 to close out a strong freshman campaign.
After coming into the weekend seeded 15th in the 1500m, freshman Josiah Demaris scored for the second-straight day, placing 8th with a PR of 15:05.85. He beat his previous best by nearly six seconds.

Junior Sean Erickson closed his record-setting season with a 4th-place finish in the Discus. His best throw traveled 49.95m.

Logan Wentz hit a personal best in the Triple Jump, reaching a mark of 13.96m to finish 7th in the event.
