EMPORIA, KS - Through five events of the Decathlon at the NCAA Championships, University of Mary men's track and field sophomore
Kenny Moxey Jr. is in 6th place out of 16 athletes.
The Decathlon began with the 100m, in which Moxey Jr. won his heat with an 11.17. He placed 7th overall.
A 6.44m distance in the Long Jump placed the sophomore 15th in the event.
He followed up with his best performance of the day, crushing his PR in the Shot Put with a 14.34m throw. That was good enough to place 4th in the event. His previous best throw was 13.85m.
The High Jump was next and Moxey Jr. also placed 4th there with a 1.93m height.
Day 1 concluded with the 400m, where Moxey Jr. placed 7th at 49.82.
Overall, he totaled 3,819 points and is 167 points off the leader, Pittsburg State's Leo Chauchard.

Sean Erickson will compete in the Discus at 1:30 p.m. and
Lucas Kupfer will take part in the High Jump at 3:30 p.m.
