BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's track & field team took full advantage of opening their outdoor season at home in the Marauders Outdoor Opener as UMary broke a pair of school relay records in addition to an NCAA qualifying time by
Morgan Hertz.
In the first race of the day, the UMary quartet of
Grace Brandt,
Aspen Eslinger,
Anna Tisch and
Bernadette Belzer combined forces to run the 4x300 meter relay in a team-record time of 2:51.85.
The Marauders bookended the meet with their second record of the day, this time in the 4x200 meter relay as
Tayen Werner, Morgan Herz,
Kelescia Downes and
Kendall Berg finished the race in 1:40.35.
Hertz registered the Marauders lone NCAA qualifying mark with an impressive performance in the 400 meter hurdles, clearing the barriers in 1:01.57.
Several other Marauders also claimed event wins:
- Tayen Werner won the 200 meter dash in 24.44 seconds
- Terez Wycklendt topped the field in the 1500 meter run with a mark of 4:52.43
- Anna Bruno's effort of 5.79 meters in the long jump captured the crown
The Marauders next compete at the Spank Blasing Invitational on March 28-29, hosted by CSU Pueblo in Pueblo, CO.
