MANKATO, MN – After ending the first day of competition in 6
th place, University of Mary Men's Track and Field surged to 3
rd on Day 2 of the NSIC Championships. It is the highest finish for the men in the indoor season since a 2
nd place finish in 2019.
The day started with freshman
Gideon Hammah breaking the school record in the mile with time of 4:12.93. The record was previously held by Derek Myers, who set the record six years ago. Hammah placed 3rd in the event to earn team points.
Diego Andres-Dougan had an interesting day. It started with a 4th-place finish in the 60m hurdles finals with a time of 7.99. Later in the day, he was a wild card entry in the triple jump, an event he had not competed in since April 2024. Andres-Dougan went on to place 3
rd in the event with a distance of 14.92, which ranks 27
th in the nation.
Ty Allen also earned points in the triple jump with a 14.17m leap to place 6
th.
The heptathlon concluded today, with
Kenny Moxey Jr. finishing as the runner-up in the multi event. He had a total of 4,928 points at the end of competition, a new personal best for the freshman.
The Cano brothers, Osvaldo and Osiel, both earned points in the 600m dash. Osvaldo placed 3
rd at 1:21.98 while Osiel was 7
th with a 1:23.79.
Jorgen Paulson then placed 6
th in a loaded 60m dash field with a 6.86. He was also in the 200m dash finals, finishing 5
th with a 21.89 time.
The 4x400m relay team had an impressive showing to close out the day for the track side, finishing 2
nd. The grouping of
Raheem Taitt-Best,
Izaak Kudrna, and Osvaldo and
Osiel Cano compiled a time of 3:18.14, less than two seconds off the leaders from Minnesota State.
The 8 points gained in the 4x400m relay were just enough for the Marauders to leapfrog MSU Moorhead in the team standings in the final event of the weekend.
Jake Hettinger had a career day in the shot put, adding nearly half a meter to his personal best. The sophomore launched a 15.94m throw to place 6
th in the event.

Up next for the Marauders will be a trip to Indianapolis, IN, for the NCAA Indoor Championships. The indoor season will conclude at the Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds from March 13-15.
