5 Marauders primed to compete at the 2022 NCAA outdoor track & field championships May 26-28

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary will be represented by a quintet of Marauders at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The final meet of the year runs Thursday, May 26, through Saturday, May 28, in Allendale, MI. Among the contingent at the national championships are three All-Americans, including a national champion.

The championship event is hosted at the Grand Valley State University Track & Field Stadium for a second straight year.

Astley Davis, representing the UMary men's team, opens championship weekend for the Marauders in the long jump competition at 1:30 pm on Thursday. The 2022 Northern Sun outdoor long jump champion, Davis is seeded 14th in the event with a season-best mark of 7.51 meters and competes in the first flight. This is his first NCAA championship event.

At 4:30 pm 6-time All-American D'Andra Morris and Samoya Neil take the spotlight in the women's long jump. A freshman, Neil's top effort this season of 6.01 meters ranks 14th in the competition. Morris, who earned All-American honors indoors last March in the long jump, is seeded 18th with a top mark of 5.99 meters. Neil also competed at the 2022 NCAA indoor championships while this is the 7th NCAA meet appearance for Morris and the 8th for which she has been selected.

Friday will be another busy day for the Marauders as Morris is joined in competition by fellow All-Americans Elizabeth Acheson and Tereza Bolibruch.

The triple jump is set to begin at 3:45 pm with Morris in pursuit of a second national championship. The senior from Kingston, Jamaica, was the runner-up at the 2021 outdoor championships before winning the NCAA title at the 2022 indoor championships. Competing in the second fight, the Northern Sun 2021 and 2022 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year enters the event with the top mark in the nation this season at 13.17 meters.

Acheson races in the 800 meter run at 5:15 pm in the first of three heats. The Northfield, MN, native ranks 15th this season with a top mark of 2:09.12. This is the 4th straight NCAA championship meet for Acheson, who placed 4th indoors and 5th outdoors in 2021 before taking 14th indoors in 2022.

Bolibruch is the 5th and final Marauder to compete when she toes the line for the 100 meter hurdles at 5:50 pm, competing in the second of three heats. She earned a spot at the national championships after posting a top mark this spring of 13.82 seconds and is ranked 13th in the country. The senior from Jamestown, RI, placed 9th at the 2021 NCAA indoor championships and was 11th at the outdoor championships last spring to earn second team All-American status both times.

Should they advance following the qualifying heats on Friday, Bolibruch would race in the finals of the 100 meter hurdles on Saturday, May 28, at 1:55 pm, with Acheson in the 800 finals at 2:55 pm.
