D'Andra Morris broke a school record to finish second in the nation in the triple jump and
Elizabeth Acheson rocketed her way to fourth place in the 800 run at the 2021 NCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships, earning the two Marauders All-American status.
Combined Morris and Acheson generated 13 points to lead the Marauders to a 15
th place team finish.
Competing at her fourth national championship, Morris had a spectacular day in the triple jump, besting her own school record.
On her second attempt of the day, Morris uncorked a leap of 12.65 meters to catapult the senior into second place in the meet. The effort topped her previous record mark of 12.54 meters, set at the 2019 NCAA indoor championships when she earned All-American honors for the first time.
The Kingston, Jamaica, native is now a three-time NCAA All-American.
Competing in her first NCAA championship event, Acheson had a spectacular weekend. Seeded second entering the weekend, Acheson claimed a spot in the finals after placing third in her heat in Friday's preliminaries.
On Championship Saturday, Acheson showed outstanding form. Running fifth through the first 600 meters, the sophomore from Northfield, MN, moved up a spot in the final 200 meters and crossed the finish line in a clocking of 2:11.39.
This is Acheson's first All-American honor.
Both Acheson and Morris had also qualified for the 2020 NCAA championships and were on site, preparing to compete, before the meet was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the performances by Morris and Acheson,
Taylor Hestekin (mile run) and
Tereza Bolibruch (60 meter hurdles) earned second team All-American honors on Friday.
