NSIC Swimming And Diving Championships Begin Wednesday For UMary

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary swimming and diving team will compete at the 2019 NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday through Saturday, February 13-16 at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, hosted by University of Sioux Falls. The Marauders are among the seven teams that will compete over four days for the NSIC Championship.
 
Trial sessions will begin each day at 10 AM with the finals set for 6 PM each night. The top three finalists in each individual event and top two finalists in each relay event will be recognized as NSIC All-Conference during the meet. A Swimmer of the Year, Diver of the Year, Freshman of Year, Swim Coach of the Year and Dive Coach of the Year will also be voted on by the coaches during the event. Finally at the conclusion of the meet, the swimmer with the most points will be named the NSIC Swimmer of the Meet and the diver with the most points will be named NSIC Diver of the Meet.
 
UMary finished seventh at the 2018 NSIC championships. Alyssa Boese led the team by earning All-NSIC honors with her second place finish in the 200 yard butterfly.
 
Marauders head coach Allan McCallum has several swimmers ranked in the top ten of their events in just the third year of the UMary program.
 
  • Freshman Victoria Murillo ranks 1st in the NSIC in the 200 free, 1st in the 500 free, 3rd in the 100 free, 6th in the 1000 free, 6th in the 50 breaststroke, and 4th in the 200 breaststroke
  • Freshman Andrea Lee ranks 2nd in the NSIC in the 1000 free and 4th in the 1650 free
  • Freshman Anna Jackson ranks 7th in the NSIC in the 1000 free, 9th in the 1650 free, and 5th in the 200 yard breaststroke
  • Junior Alyssa Boese ranks 6th in the NSIC in the 50 backstroke, 10th in the 200 backstroke, 8th in the 50 fly, and 6th in the 200 IM.
  • Junior Rachel Riedel ranks 9th in the NSIC in the 200 backstroke
  • Sophomore Abbey Zajdzinski ranks 5th in the NSIC in the 50 fly, 2nd in the 100 fly, and 3rd in the 200 fly
  • Sophomore Mackenzie Houston ranks 9th in the NSIC in the 50 fly
