WEST FARGO, ND –
Samantha Sheridan earned All-Conference honors on day one of the 2026 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships. The University of Mary swimming and diving team sits in third place after day one of the NSIC Championships with 164 team points.
Samantha Sheridan claimed third place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle after she posted a time of 10:32.43. Sheridan was swimming in fourth position for most of the race but came on strong and passed for third place in the final lap.
Gabrielle Evanson took 13
th with a time of 10:55.80.
The Marauders earned the bronze medal in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as the team of
Maria Strong,
Peyton Wunderlich,
Olivia Gibbons, and
Emma Sheppard recorded a time of 1:43.69 for a new school record.
UMary had four swimmers finish in the top-12 in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Maria Strong (23.59) claimed fourth,
Olivia Gibbons (23.88) took fifth,
Peyton Wunderlich (24.19) finished seventh, and
Emma Sheppard (24.35) placed 12
th.
The day ended with the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of
Gabrielle Evanson,
Elise Altringer,
Samantha Sheridan, and
Katherine Ryan took seventh place with a time of 7:54.15.
Minnesota State University, Mankato leads the competition with 299 points, followed by St. Cloud State University (213.5), UMary (164), University of Sioux Falls (140), Augustana University (135.5), Concordia University, St. Paul (120), Minnesota State University Moorhead (104), Southwest Minnesota State University (92), University of Jamestown (72), and Northern State University (63).
The Marauders return for day two of the NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, February 12, in West Fargo, ND. Prelims begin at 10 am, and finals are set for 5:00 pm.
