WEST FARGO, ND – It was an exciting night for the University of Mary swimming and diving team as
Olivia Gibbons captured her first-career NSIC Championship in the final day of the 2026 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Marauders finished the tournament in sixth place with 417 team points, a significant improvement from last year where UMary finished eighth with 227 points.
Gibbons claimed gold in the 200 Yard Breaststroke after she recorded a new school record time of 2:20.77. The Kalispell, MT, native becomes the first Marauder to win a conference championship since Victoria Murillo did so back in 2024.
Samantha Sheridan earned her second all-conference honor in the 1650 Yard Freestyle after she put up a time of 17:40.99 to take third.
Gabrielle Evanson (18:07.92) finished sixth.
Maria Strong took fifth in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 52.30.
Grace Urke placed 13
th in the 100 Yard IM, posting a time of 1:00.98
The event ended with the Marauders placing third in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as the team of
Maria Strong,
Peyton Wunderlich,
Elise Altringer, and
Olivia Gibbons recorded a time of 3:31.19. The UMary B team of
Becca Smith,
Jordn Wolsky,
Emma Sheppard, and
Taylor Miller (3:37.40) took 14
th.
Minnesota State University, Mankato won the competition with 825.5 points, followed by St. Cloud State University (780.5), Augustana University (618), University of Sioux Falls (455), Concordia University, St. Paul (432), UMary (417), Minnesota State University Moorhead (364), Southwest Minnesota State University (296), University of Jamestown (211), and Northern State University (176).
