DULUTH, MN – The 18
th-ranked University of Mary women's track and field team is narrowly behind Minnesota State University following two days of competition at the NSIC Championships after accumulating five All-NSIC performances, including an individual title.
Faith Jepchumba set the tone in the 10,000m, winning her first NSIC title as a freshman. Her time of 35:22.12 was 14 seconds faster than the runner-up, senior teammate
Kristine Kalthoff, who earned All-NSIC honors at 35:36.45.
Tori Stepka reached the podium with a 36:56.88, finishing 4
th.
The Heptathlon concluded today with both of UMary's multi-athletes,
Kaydee Boyce and
Anna Rader, reaching the podium. Boyce earned All-NSIC honors by crushing her PR with a 4744. Her previous best was 4073. Boyce won the Javelin leg with a PR of 34.81 and the Shot Put with a 12.04m throw. Rader, a senior, scored 4373 to finish 5
th in her final conference meet.
Siena Lambert made history in the Hammer Throw, becoming the first UMary women's thrower ever to score team points at the NSIC Championships in any event. She set a school record with a 52.07m throw to finish 3
rd, earning All-NSIC honors.
Anna Bruno was All-NSIC in a competitive Long Jump field, placing 3
rd with a 5.90m jump. Freshman
Kate Van Erp reached the podium with an 8
th place finish at 5.52m.
Tionce Walrond (11.87),
Savana Sanchez (11.98), and
Mya Nishimura (12.07) all qualified for the 100m Finals.
Walrond (23.71) and Sanchez (24.82) will join
Tayen Werner (24.35) and
Kelescia Downes (24.28) in the 200m Finals. Walrond's time is 20
th-best in the nation and was the best in the prelims.
Werner, the indoor 400m conference champion, advanced the finals of the 400m with a 54.87, achieving the best prelim time. Downes (55.37) will join her in the finals.
The Marauders will be represented by three athletes in the 400m Hurdles Finals.
Grace Brandt (1:02.04),
Aspen Eslinger (1:02.11), and
Bernadette Belzer (1:02.94) all advanced.
Giselle Jahner (2:14.90) and
Amber Rosemeier (2:14.92) reached the finals in the 800m.
