BURNSVILLE, MN – University of Mary track and field sophomore
Kenny Moxey Jr. traveled to Iowa last week for the Drake Relays and came away with one of the best Decathlon scores in the nation. As a result, he's been named the Northern Sun's Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
Moxey Jr. finished the Decathlon with 7,086 points, the most accumulated by any NCAA athlete in the competition. He broke UMary's school record in the process, flying by a mark of 6,460 that was achieved in 1998.
Along the way, Moxey Jr. set new PRs in the 100m, 400m, High Jump, Discus, and Javelin. The sophomore now ranks 6
th in the nation in the event and has the top score in the NSIC.
The indoor season for Moxey Jr. culminated earlier this year with him winning an NSIC Championship and finishing 3
rd in the nation in the Heptathlon at the NCAA Championships to earn All-American honors.
Moxey Jr. is the first UMary men's track and field member to be named NSIC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week since 2017, when Andrew Dubiel did so.
The Marauders will be competing at the UMary Senior Day Open on Wednesday at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck, ND.
