GRAND FORKS, ND – Nationally 23
rd-ranked UMary women's track and field had multiple NCAA provisional marks and a broken school record at the UND Open.
Tayen Werner continued her terrific sophomore campaign with a victory in the 400m Dash. The Canadian's time of 54.49 is a school record, besting
Sakena Massiah's 54.74 mark from last season. Werner is now 6
th in the nation in the event.
Kelescia Downes placed 3
rd and also scored an NCAA provisional time of 55.92, ranking 26
th in the nation.
Werner and Downes joined
Kate Van Erp and
Tionce Walrond in the 4x400m Relay, placing third with a time of 3:48.06. That currently ranks 15
th in the nation.
Faith Jepchumba tallied a victory in her first 5000m as a college athlete, finishing with a time of 17:58.56. The freshman from Kenya has won both of her races since making her track and field debut.
Anna Bruno (Long Jump, 5.78m) and
Laila Cleare (60m, 7.59) both reached provisional marks, but did not top their season bests.
Siena Lambert entered the record books as the first Marauder to take part in the Indoor Discus, hitting a mark of 40.78m.

The Marauders head to Fargo next weekend for the two-day Bison Open hosted by North Dakota State University. The meet will take place Feb. 6 and 7.
