Gibbons named Swimmer to Watch, Marauders projected to finish 7th

BURNSVILLE, MN – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced that freshman Olivia Gibbons has been named the University of Mary swimmer to watch for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

"Olivia has been a great addition to our program, and we are very excited to see what she accomplishes this season," said head coach Abby Loel. "She is hard-working, pushes her teammates, and has a great love for the sport of swimming, which makes working with her a joy. She brings a level of competitiveness in breaststroke that we are excited to see in our program and conference."

Gibbons won the 2023 and 2025 Montana High School Association State Championship in 100 Free. The Kalispell, MT, native was an All-State member from 2022-25.

The NSIC Swimming & Diving Preseason Coaches' Poll also predicted the Marauders to take seventh in the conference. Last season, UMary took eighth in the NSIC Championships.

"This year, I am very excited to see my team work together each day, both in and out of the pool. We have one of the largest rosters in our program's history, which brings a lot of excitement and competitiveness. Our athletes and staff can't wait to accomplish big things this season," Loel said.

The Marauders open their season in Aberdeen, SD, this Friday, September 26, at 6 pm in the NSU relays.
