UMary men break 3 records at Senior Open, hit pair of top 10 national marks

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's track and field team had an excellent day at home at the UMary Senior Open on Sunday, Apr. 27. The Marauders broke three school records at the event, taking home a team victory.

Raheem Taitt-Best was stellar once again. The junior broke his own school record in the 200m dash with a 20.58 mark. The previous record, which was set last year, was 20.71. Taitt-Best is now 8th in the nation in the event.

He joined Jorgen Paulson, Xavier Ifill, and Michael Cartwright in the 4x100m dash to break the school record with a 39.72. That time is the second-best in the nation thus far. The previous school record was 40.27 and was set earlier this season.

Michael Cartwright broke the school record in the 100m dash with a 10.34. The previous record, Luxon Glor's 10.35, had stood since 2019. Cartwright is now 27th in the nation in the event. Jorgen Paulson placed 2nd with a 10.41, which is 42nd in the nation.

Berkley Munnings had an NCAA qualifying time of 53.10 in the 400m hurdles, taking home the win. He is now 40th in the nation in the event.

Osvaldo Cano won the 400m dash with a 49.01, a personal best.

Ian Oberfeld had personal bests in the shot put (14.44m), discus (39.25), and javelin (49.50), winning the first of the three. His teammate on the UMary football team, Cameron Brusven, won the javelin with a 54.47m throw.

NDSU BISON OPEN RECAP
UMary sent a small fleet of athletes to Fargo on Friday, Apr. 25, for the NDSU Bison Open.

Joseph Ringhand set a PR in the 800m run, placing 3rd. His time was 1:55.76.

Ethan Schaffer, a junior, ran the 3000m steeplechase for the first time in his career and placed 3rd with a 10:12.64.

Jake Hettinger placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 15.68.
