Paulson earns first career All-American at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The University of Mary men's track and field team was represented in one event at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with two participants in the long jump. Senior Jorgen Paulson came away with a sixth-place finish and his first All-American.

With a mark of 7.28m on his second of three jumps, Paulson was able to advance to the finals of the event. He then topped out at 7.34m on his first of three jumps in the finals, securing his sixth-place spot and an All-American honor.

This was the Edgeley, ND, native's first trip to the National Championships and he'll be leaving with a trophy.

Fellow senior Hayden Von Wald was unable to advance through the first round after reaching 6.98m and placing 17th. Von Wald was an All-American in the long jump last outdoor season and will look to repeat that feat this spring.

Outdoor season will begin next weekend at home with the Marauders Outdoor Opener. The meet will take place at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck, ND, on Saturday, Mar. 22.
