BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary women's track and field team wrapped up the regular indoor season on a high note with a win at the Marauders Tune-Up. There were 11 victories at the meet and a pair of records were broken.
Laila Cleare got the day started with a win in the 60m dash, breaking her own school record with a time of 7.41 seconds. Her previous record was 7.43. Cleare is now tied for 11
th in the nation and has the top time in the NSIC.
The 4x200m relay team of
Mya Nishimura,
Micah Bernard,
Mara Bruno, and
Kendall Berg finished with a time of 1:42.21, breaking a school record in the process. The previous record was 1:43.87 held by
Tia Horning,
Taylor Weidner, Lauren Inama, and
Sakena Massiah, set in 2024.
Weidner made great progress in the long jump, winning with a personal indoor best of 5.89m. Her previous high was 5.75m. That pushed the senior from 40
th all the way to 19
th in the national rankings. Weidner is now fifth in the conference.
Horning also made a significant jump in the 60m hurdles. She won the event with a personal best of 8.52. As a result, she ascended from 27
th to 13
th in the national rankings and is now fifth in the conference.
Mara Bruno took home the win in the 200m dash with a 25.47, closely followed by teammates
Gabriella Apelian (25.50) and
Kendall Berg (25.67).
Freshman
Ellyn Engels won the 1000m with a personal best of 3:05.23. Fellow distance runner
Jazmyn Christen took home the win in the 3000m run with a time of 11:33.03.
Jerrica Pachl improved her national standing in the high jump with a heigh of 1.68m . Her previous best was 1.67m. That narrow improvement was enough to move Pachl from 45
th to 34
th in the nation.
Freshman
Haley Mayer improved her personal best in the pole vault with a victorious 3.00m mark. Her previous best was 2.95m.
Freshman
Kennedy Marcus earned her first career victory in the triple jump with a personal best of 11.34m. Her previous best was 11.05m.
Yet another freshman earned a first career victory and a personal best with
Alexa Delzer winning the weight throw. Delzer came away with a distance of 11.64m, improving her best mark by 0.24m. She also had a personal best in the shot put, finishing second at 11.31m, an improvement of 0.61m.
