BISMARCK, ND — The University of Mary swimming and diving team impressed on day one of the Marauder Invite as UMary leads with 712 team points. The Marauders won five events, four individual and one relay, out of 13.
The invite opened with the team of
Peyton Wunderlich,
Maria Strong,
Olivia Gibbons and
Teresa Cavanaugh winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:50.37.
Gibbons (2:26.98),
Natalie Dehring (2:31.21) ,and
Katherine Ryan (2:34.66) took the top three spots in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Gibbons also took down the 50 Yard Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 30.43.
Wunderlich won gold in the 50 Yard Butterfly after recording a time of 26.45.
Strong impressed in the 50 Yard Backstroke, winning with a time of 28.16. She also took third in the 200 Yard Backstroke after posting a time of 2:13.83.
Taylor Miller (2:20.69) placed third in the 200 Yard IM.
Day one concluded with the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of Wunderlich, Strong, Gibbons and
Elise Altringer (3:40.30) finished in second, just 0.16 seconds behind the winners of the University of Sioux Falls.
The Marauders return for day two of the Marauder Invite on Saturday, October 4, at 10:15 am at the BSC Aquatic & Fitness Center.
