UMary to bring fall season to an end at USF Invitational

LARCHWOOD, IA – The University of Mary men's golf team is on a roll with individual winners at its last two meets. They'll take that momentum to Iowa for the USF Invitational, hosted at the Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13 and 14.

Representing the Marauders will be Lucas Greenlun, Quinn Breidenbach, Lucas Schoepp, David Thomson, and Aiden Knodel. Payton Hiller, Evan Booth, and Ryker Landers will all make the trip and golf independently.

Live scoring can be found here with a tee time of 11:00 a.m. There will be 13 teams competing across 10 Northern Sun schools.

LAST TIME OUT
The Marauders competed at the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational and placed 2nd out of 10 teams. While golfing on the B team, David Thomson reached a three-way playoff that featured teammate Lucas Schoepp. Thomson birdied the third hole to win the playoff and the tournament. Quinn Breidenbach also had a top-5 finish, golfing to an even par 144.

LAST TIME IN IOWA
UMary placed 7th out of 10 teams last season at the USF Invitational. Gavin Argent led the way in 4th with an even-par 144. The Marauders had three eagles across the tournament.

LOOKING BACK
UMary is coming off its most successful season since 2007, finishing 6th at the NSIC Championships. Junior Evan Booth was brilliant, finishing in sixth place overall and one stroke away from All-Tournament honors. As a result, Booth was named the Marauders' NSIC Athlete to Watch for this season.

PRESEASON POLL
UMary was picked to finish 9th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll. The team's personnel is largely consistent with last years, with the main difference being All-NSIC golfer Gavin Argent moving to an assistant coaching role. Argent had five top-5 finishes last season and led the scoring efforts for the Marauders throughout the season.

The other four NSIC point scorers (Booth, Quinn Breidenbach, Lucas Greenlun, and Aiden Knodel) are back this season.

NEW FACES
The Marauders added five freshmen to bring the roster's total players to 19. Payton Hiller, Ryker Landers, Zach Skarperud, Hunter Steeves, and David Thomson are all set to compete collegiately for the first time.
