WEST FARGO, ND — After two days of competition, the University of Mary swimming and diving team finished fourth at the Dragon Invite.
The University of Sioux Falls won the event with 1096.5 team points, followed by Concordia University, St. Paul (890.5), Minnesota State University Moorhead (880), UMary (711.5), University of Jamestown (428.5) and Concordia College (76).
Madeline Desmond took second in the 50 yard backstroke after recording a time of 28.05. Desmond (26.32) also finished runner-up in the 50 yard butterfly and
Peyton Wunderlich (27.26) took fourth.
The team of
Maria Strong,
Madeline Desmond,
Elise Altringer and
Peyton Wunderlich finished third in the 400 Yard Medley Relay after recording a time of 4:08.46.
Wunderlich (2:02.07) and
Samantha Sheridan (2:03.16) finished third and fourth in the 200 yard freestyle. Wunderlich also grabbed fourth in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 25.16. Wunderlich finished her day in the 100 yard freestyle, taking fourth place with a time of 54.53.
Samantha Sheridan took bronze in the 1000 yard freestyle, recording a time of 11:00.83. Sheridan (5:28.01) placed fourth in the 500 yard freestyle and
Amber Norgaard (5:32.34) finished seventh.
Madeline Desmond took fourth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.75 and
Maria Strong (1:01.91) placed seventh.
Lola Sheridan (2:26.13) finished fifth and
Mariapocs Ruiz Martinez (2:27.48) took seventh in the 200 yard butterfly.
The event finished in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as the team of
Michaela Desmond,
Madeline Desmond,
Maria Strong and
Peyton Wunderlich finished in third place with a time of 3:43.52.
The Marauders travel to Jamestown, ND, to take on the University of Jamestown in a dual on Friday, January 24.
