ABERDEEN, SD – The University of Mary swimming team took down five relay races in The Marauders season opener at the Northern State University Relay Meet.
UMary finished in second place with a team score of 140. Southwest Minnesota State University won the event with a score of 162, and NSU finished in third place (102).
The trio of
Madeline Desmond,
Maria Strong and
Peyton Wunderlich won the 3x100 Yard Butterfly Relay with a time of 3:04.37, 12 seconds faster than second place.
In the 3x100 Yard Backstroke Relay, the team of
Maria Strong,
Teresa Cavanaugh and
Madeline Desmond took home the gold with a time of 3:03.53.
Wunderlich,
Michaela Desmond,
Samantha Sheridan and
Amber Norgaard took down the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, posting a time of 8:22.56.
The team of Cavanaugh, Wunderlich,
Elise Altringer and
Madeline Desmond was victorious in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, recording a time of 4:08.81.
The 3x500 Yard Freestyle Relay saw the trio of Norgaard,
Samantha Sheridan and
Lola Sheridan win with a time of 16:51.13.
The Marauders return to Aberdeen, SD, to challenge NSU and SMSU in separate duals on Saturday, September 28, at 11 am.
