BISMARCK, ND — The University of Mary swimming and diving team placed second in the pentathlon against Northern State University and Concordia University, St. Paul as UMary hosted senior night.
In the final home meet of the year, the Marauders honored
Mariapocs Ruiz Martinez for her contributions to the University of Mary.
UMary opened the pentathlon with the 200 Yard Medley Relay as the team of
Maria Strong,
Elise Altringer,
Madeline Desmond and
Peyton Wunderlich won with a time of 1:51.21.
Madeline Desmond (27.78), Wunderlich (28.06), Strong (28.07) and
Teresa Cavanaugh (29.11) finished second, third, fourth and fifth in the 50 yard backstroke.
Altringer placed in a tie for fourth in the 50 yard breaststroke after posting a time of 33.19.
Madeline Desmond won the 50 yard butterfly, recording a time of 26.35. Strong (26.48) and Wunderlich (26.59) took second and third, securing UMary the top three spots.
Wunderlich took home the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.22. Strong (25.04) placed third and
Madeline Desmond (25.24) took fifth.
In the 100 IM, Wunderlich (1:01.76) finished runner-up and Strong (1:01.78) grabbed fourth place.

Madeline Desmond and Wunderlich placed third in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay T-shirt relay, posting a time of 2:17.85.
The Marauders return in 2025 in the Dragon Invite on January 10-11 in Moorhead, MN.
