BISMARCK, ND – University of Mary men's track and field appeared to be in midseason form at the Mike Thorson Open, winning the meet over seven visiting schools. There were five NCAA qualifying marks and a school record that fell.
The long jumpers of UMary stole the show on the men's side, taking four of the top five spots.
Jorgen Paulson set a personal record with a jump of 7.49m, landing in second place. Von Wald's jump of 7.55m earned him the top spot and the school's indoor long jump record. Luxon Glor's record of 7.52m had stood since 2017.
UMary swept the top-3 in the 400m, with
Raheem Taitt-Best's time of 48.21 leading the way. Xavier Ifill (49.92) and
Osvaldo Cano (50.77) followed.
Diego Andres-Dougan, the school's record-holder in the 60m hurdles, started his year with a win. His time of 8.05 seconds topped the charts at home.
The aforementioned performances of Paulson, Von Wald, Andres-Dougan, and Taitt-Best all met NCAA qualifying standards. Paulson also had a qualifying time in the 60m dash prelims (Paulson did not race in the finals of the event).

Up next for the Marauders will be a trip to Fargo on Friday, Dec. 13. The team will be taking part in the Dakota Alumni Classic hosted by North Dakota State University.
