MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN—
Samantha Sheridan and
Maria Strong both won events on day one of the WildBear Invite, as the University of Mary swimming and diving team currently sits in third place out of six teams.
Samantha Sheridan won the 1650 yard freestyle as she produced a time of 17:29.54, about four seconds faster than the runner-up.
Maria Strong was victorious in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.81. Her teammate
Peyton Wunderlich recorded a time of 24.13 to take silver in the event.
Wunderlich also took second in the 100 yard butterfly after posting a time of 57.29.
Madeline Desmond (57.90) finished in third place, and Strong (59.45) took seventh.

Elise Altringer, Strong and Wonderlich grabbed fifth place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.41.
Michaela Desmond,
Teresa Cavanaugh,
Amber Norgaard and Altringer finished eighth in the 800 yard freestyle relay after recording a time of 8:04.80.
The overall team scores after day one are University of Sioux Falls (328), Concordia Universty, St. Paul (224), UMary (197), Southwest Minnesota State University (196), St. Catherine University (145), and Northern State University (110).
The Marauders return for day two of the WildBear Invite in Mendota Heights, MN, on Friday, November 22, with prelims set for 10:30 am and finals to begin at 5:30 pm.
