JAMESTOWN, ND – The University of Mary swimming & diving team continues their strong start to the season as the Marauders took first place in the Knight Invite. UMary finished with 973.5 team points, defeating the University of Jamestown (950), Northern State University (872.5) and Concordia College (331).
The Marauders kicked off the invite by taking down the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of
Elise Altringer,
Amber Norgaard,
Felicity McCallen and
Peyton Wunderlich won with a time of 3:48.42.
Maria Strong posted a time of 28.21 to win the 50 yard backstroke. Strong then took down the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.98. The Crystal Lake, OH, native won her third event of the invite in the 400 yard IM (4:58.57). Norgaard (5:06.32) and
Mariapocs Ruiz Martinez (5:09.77) took second and third in the 400 yard IM.
Wunderlich won her first of two solo events by winning the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 24.75. Wunderlich earned her second win by taking down the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.29.
Madeline Desmond grabbed gold in the 50 yard butterfly, recording a time of 26.66. Wunderlich (26.71) finished right behind for second place. The Bowling Green, OH, native also won the 100 yard butterfly (1:00.01).
Samantha Sheridan won the 1650 yard freestyle, posting a time of 18:43.33. The Billings, MT, native placed second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.75.
The team of
Madeline Desmond, Altringer, Strong and Wunderlich finished first (4:08.92) in the 400 Yard Medley Relay.
Altringer (33.47) took silver in the 50 yard breaststroke.
Felicity McCallen (1:04.41) and
Sophie Pellegrino (1:04.77) placed second and third in the 100 yard backstroke.
Concluding the invite for UMary was the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Madeline Desmond, Norgaard, Strong and Wunderlich won after recording a time of 1:42.22.
The Marauders next meet is the Midseason invite in Minneapolis, MN, starting on Thursday, November 21, and concluding on Saturday, November 23.
