ABERDEEN, SD – The University of Mary women's swimming and diving team won three individual events in a triple dual at Northern State University. In the Marauders final competition prior to the Northern Sun championships, UMary dropped decisions to Southwest Minnesota State University (127-90) and Northern State University (117-96).
Jordn Wolsky was victorious in the 100 free with a time of 55.06 in her final preparation for the NSIC meet.
Maria Strong continued her impressive freshman season with a pair of top-3 finishes. Strong grabbed third in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.04, followed closely by Allie Elliot (2:05.58) and
Camille Merimee (2:06.24).
Strong then finished third in the 200 fly, recording a time of 1:02.80.
Victoria Murillo earned a pair of wins on the day. The senior All-American won the 1000 free after recording a time of 10:57.93.
Teresa Cavanaugh took fourth (12:14.35) and
Mariapocs Ruiz Martinez (12:27.72) finished fifth.
Murillo continued her strong day by winning the 100 breast, finishing with a time of 1:07.72.
In the 400 Medley Relay, the team of Cavanaugh, Murillo, Wolsky and Maddy Desmond finished second, with a time of 4:05.53.
Sarah Bernasconi took bronze in the 50 free after finishing with a time of 26.54.
Elise Altringer (27.06) placed fourth, and
Marina Conde Revuelto (27.25) earned fifth place.
Michaela Desmond (5:46.85) and Bernasconi (6:01.27) finished fourth and fifth in the 500 free.
Merimee (1:03.45) finished fourth in the 100 back, while Cavanaugh (1:03.92) took fifth.
Maddy Desmond recorded a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:22.86.
Kahlan Hamlin finished third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 155.90.
Finishing off the meet was the 400 Freestyle Relay as the team of Merimee, Strong, Elliot and
Michaela Desmond took third with a time of 3:46.02.
The Marauders next competition is the NSIC Championships, beginning on February 14 and concluding on February 17.
