D'Andra Morris left one final indelible mark on the Northern Sun record book. In her final conference meet, the University of Mary senior broke the NSIC record in the triple jump while winning her 10
th event championship of her storied career.
The Marauders wrapped up the 2022 Northern Sun Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a 3
rd place finish, accumulating 104.5 points. Minnesota State dethroned the defending champion Marauders with 191 points with Augie taken second with 127 points in the 15-team event. Following UMary was Winona State (88),m Sioux Falls (47.5), Concordia-St. Paul (43), MSU Moorhead (36), Wayne State (34), Minnesota Duluth (32), Bemidji State (31), Northern State (28), St. Cloud State (26), Southwest Minnesota State (13), Minot State (9) and Upper Iowa (8).
Morris won the Marauders lone event title of the weekend with a mark of 12.85 in the triple jump. After fouling on her first attempt of the day, the Kingston, Jamaica, native set the conference record on her second effort. Morris dominated the field as the second-place distance was 11.96 meters. All four of her countable marks exceeded 12 meters.
The previous record was 12.60 meters by UMary's Danylle Kurywchak in 2015. Morris also owns the NSIC indoor triple jump record.
This was Morris' fourth outdoor NSIC title, winning the triple jump three times and the high jump once. She also owns six indoor titles, four in the triple jump and two in the high jump.
The Marauders also posted runner-up finishes in three other events.
UMary's 4x100 meter relay team got Saturday off to a strong start for the Marauders. The quartet of
Cali Modglin,
Samoya Neil,
Taylor Weidner and
Arianna Passeri combined efforts to post a time of 47.31 seconds to finish second.
Morgan Hertz crushed the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.81 seconds to place second and earn All-Northern Sun honors.
Taryn Ceglowski led a strong effort for the Marauders in the 1500 meter run. The senior placed 4
th overall in a time of 4:33.43, just ahead of fellow senior
Taylor Hestekin who placed 5
th in 4:34.56.
Reid Shiland rounded out the Marauders effort in 7
th (4:38.10).
Several other Marauders also scored points for UMary on Saturday:
- Tereza Bolibruch was clocked in 14.24 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles to earn 4th place
- Arianna Passeri claimed 8th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.35 seconds, the third different in which she produced a podium finish.
- Ava Grimm placed fourth in the 400 meter dash (57.32 seconds)
- Courtney Dembrowski finished 8th in the 800 meter dash (2:19.34 seconds)
- Alyssa Becker posted a time of 17:37.90 in the 5000 meter run to place 7th
- Danalee Brock claimed 7th in the 400 meter hurdles with a clocking of 1:01.81
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Brock, Grace Acheson, Elizabeth Acheson and Grimm placed 4th in 3:58.27
- Nicole Kramchynsky finished 4th in the javelin (41.24m)
The Marauders wrap up the season at the NCAA championships on May 26-28.
