BROOKINGS, SD – A pair of record-setting performances keyed the 22
nd ranked University of Mary women's indoor track & field team effort at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic. The Marauders also claimed three NCAA qualifying marks and two event wins.
The Marauders opened the weekend with a school-record effort in the 4x800 meter relay.
Taryn Ceglowski,
Courtney Dembrowski,
Reid Shiland and
Taylor Hestekin combined forces to with the event with a record clocking of 9:06.60.
UMary also received a big performance from the 4x400 meter relay team. The UMary quartet of
Danalee Brock,
Ava Grimm,
Morgan Hertz and
Elizabeth Acheson teamed up to win the Marauders second relay race of the weekend, toppling a field of 14 with a time of 3:54.39.
Acheson broke an individual record in the 800 meter run. The All-American from Northfield, MN, blazed around the track in a time of 2:10.72 to establish a new mark for the program. Her time is also an NCAA qualifying mark.
Hestekin cruised to an NCAA qualifying time of 4:52.62 in the mile run. Her effort earned a runner-up finish in an event featuring 59 competitors.
Tereza Bolibruch posted her best time of the year in the 60 meter hurdles. She cleared the barriers in an NCAA qualifying time of 8.79 seconds to place 4
th overall.
Grimm also was the runner-up in the 600. The junior finished with a time of 1:34.34.
ADDITIONAL TOP 8 PERFORMANNCES AT THE SDSU INDOOR CLASSIC:
- Starlynn Costa was 4th in the 3000 meter run (10:22.59)
- Abigail Jones claimed 5th in the 3K (10:23.91)
- Samoya Neil placed 7th in the 60 meter dash (7.82 seconds) and 7th in the long jump (5.23 meters)
- Kristine Kalthoff was 8th in the 1000 meter run (3:05.24)
- Ceglowski was 7th in the mile (5:00.26)
The Marauders next competes at the Black Hills State Stinger Open on February 18-19 in Spearfish, SD.
