JAMESTOWN, ND – In a second straight matchup between the University of Mary and the University of Jamestown, the Marauders once again outshined the Jimmies in the pool. UMary captured ten of the 14 swim events with
Rylie Webb,
Breena DeLegge and
Victoria Murillo each winning a pair of individual events.
After swimming in Bismarck last Saturday to open the season, the two squads reversed sites to swim in Jamestown. But once again it was the Marauders who came out on top as UMary outscored Jamestown 162-121.
Webb picked up a win in the 50 yard breaststroke in a time of 33.15 seconds, just edging teammate
Korie Riely (35.35). The UMary senior came back later to place first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a clocking of 1:12.08, taking the event by .96 seconds.
DeLegge claimed the 200 free with a time of 2:07.28 to win the event comfortably by over four seconds. The senior Also won the 100 free by 2.07 seconds, touching the wall at 56.00.
In the longest event of the day and the first individual event, Murillo shined in the 1000 yard freestyle. The senior won the event by over 25 seconds with a mark of 10:49.52.
Murillo was just as dominant in winning the 500 free. With a time of 5:15.95, she placed first with teammate
Sarah Towey in second at 5:58.65.
Jordn Wolsky claimed the 50 free for the Marauders as the freshman finished the event in 26.02 seconds, finishing .9 seconds ahead of the Jimmies Nalani Curry.
Breanna Lund won the 200 IM. The sophomore posted a time of 2:27.08 to edge out teammate
Mariapocs Ruiz Martinez (2:28.84) by just over a second.
The Marauders also had a good day in the relays. The combination of Lund, Webb, Wolsky and DeLegge won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:55.77, just a third of a second ahead of the Jimmies.
Murillo,
Michaela Desmond, Wolsky and DeLegge finished the day with a commanding win in the 200 free relay, finishing over five seconds faster than the quartet from Jamestown.
The Marauders next compete at Northern State University on October 29.
