JAMESTOWN, ND – The University of Mary women's cross country team overwhelmed the competition to claim the team title at the Jimmie Invitational.
Alyssa Becker dominated the course as UMary claimed the top three individual finishes and five of the top ten.
The Marauders posted a team total of 20 points racing on the 5k Parkhurst Cross Country Course in Jamestown, ND. Fellow Northern Sun competitors claimed the next three team finishes. Northern State was a distant second with 69 points, followed by Bemidji State (82) and Minot State (109) in the 7-team meet.
"I'm proud of how we ran today because we were really racing ourselves," said UMary head coach
Chris Lessard. "We had some great breakouts and major personal bests from last year on the same course. Now it's just time to finish out the season and bring the last half in!"
Becker had an amazing day, finishing the course 50 seconds ahead of the rest of the field of 79 runners. The sophomore checked in with a clocking of 17:35.2.
The next four Marauders all finished within 41 seconds of one another.
Andrijana Fundak placed second overall and second among the Marauders, clocking in at 18:25.3. Not far behind in third place was
Kristine Kalthoff, who checked in at 18:43.0.
Ellen Moore posted a time of 18:51.0 and crossed the finish line in 6
th.
Marisa Shiland rounded out the Marauders team score with a mark of 19:06.3.

Kiran Green (19:10.7) placed 11
th overall and
Victoria Noland-Gillespie (19:23.3) was 7
th.
UMary next competes at home in the Mystics/Marauders Invitational on October 21 at McDowell Dam outside Bismarck, ND.
