BISMARCK, ND – University of Mary women's volleyball head coach
Abby Pollart has named
Bree Ackermann as the assistant coach for the Marauders volleyball program.
"I am very excited to have Coach Ackermann join our staff! Bree brings wisdom of the Northern Sun (NSIC) from her days as a Wildcat and has an amazing passion for the game of volleyball. Her ability to prioritize building relationships and helping grow individuals is a great asset to our program," said Pollart.
Ackermann competed for four years at Wayne State College from 2014-2017 where she made the NSIC All-Academic Team three times. Playing as a libero/defensive specialist for the Wildcats, Ackermann appeared in 115 games.
"I am honored to join Coach Pollart and the UMary family this fall. To be back in NSIC volleyball is a dream come true and I am grateful to have the opportunity," said Ackermann. "As great as my passion for the game of volleyball is, I am even more moved by the University of Mary's mission of greatness through virtue. I am beyond excited to pursue greatness with the Marauders."
Ackermann began coaching at Scotus Central Catholic High School in Columbus, NE, where she served as the assistant volleyball coach and head junior varsity coach.
While at Scotus Central Catholic High School, Ackermann worked as an English teacher for 8
th and 12
th graders. Ackermann graduated from Wayne State College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Ackermann also served as a summer camp volleyball coach for the University of Notre Dame and Wayne State College.
The Marauders season kicks off on September 3 as they will take on Chadron State College and Rollins College in the Steel City Showcase.
