GRAND FORKS, ND – A big day in the jumps highlighted the 14
th ranked University of Mary women's indoor track & field team's efforts at the North Dakota Indoor Open.
D'Andra Morris scored the top finish in the triple jump with a national qualifying effort, one of two Marauders wins on the day.
On her final attempt of the day, Morris exploded in the triple jump for a winning mark of 11.93 meters, .62 meters (2-0.50 feet) better than her closest competitor. Her effort was an NCAA qualifying mark. Morris also placed fifth in the long jump (5.19 meters).
Led by Morris, the Marauders had a big day in both the triple and long jumps.
Cali Modglin was third in the long jump (5.29 meters) and
Kylie Pastian placed sixth (5.18 meters).
In the triple jump,
Ricki Lindley was fourth (11.05 meters) and Pastian fifth (11.01 meters).
On the track,
Nelecia Richards topped the Marauders efforts as she powered her way to the win in the 600 meter run, outpacing the field in a time of 1:35.14.
Competing for the first time since the NCAA cross country championships in December,
Kate Fox claimed fourth in the mile run with a clocking of 5:15.87.
A pair of Marauders finished in the top five of the pentathlon.
Alysa Henry generated 3,064 points and
Shantelle Rule 2,909 to place 4-5 respectively.
The Marauders return to action February 1-2 at the NDSU Bison Open in Fargo, ND.
