Freshmen Williamson, Houston key another Marauders win over Wolves at Augie Triangular

SIOUX FALLS, SD – A pair of newcomers highlighted the second day of the season for the University of Mary swim team, leading the Marauders to a win for the second straight day over Northern State University at the Augustana Triangular.

After edging the Wolves on opening day by a single point, the Marauders opened the gap a little more on day two, pushing past Northern State 132.50 to 129.50. UMary also suffered a second straight loss to Augustana 172.50 – 89.50.

Today was a total team effort in coming away with a win against a very good Northern State team," said Marauders head coach Allan McCallum. "It was great to see the way we came together and the support the women had for each other throughout the whole meet. I'm excited for the potential this team possesses and look for us to build off this weekend and continue growing as a team."

Freshmen Mary Williamson and Mackenzie Houston both had big days for the Marauders.

After setting team records in the 1,650 and the 1,000 on the first day of the Augustana Triangular, Williamson won the 500 freestyle and the 200 individual medley against both schools. While early in the season, her time of 5:16.76 in the 500 may put her among the national leaders.

Mackenzie Houston set a school record in the 50 yard butterfly. She posted a mark of 27.11 seconds and won the event with the top clocking among swimmers from all three competing schools.

The Marauders next compete Oct. 14 at MSU Moorhead.
